We all have local restaurants we know and love… but some take their role in the community a step above serving sublime food.  There are a handful of stand out restaurants on the Eastside that will be featuring special menu items and/or cocktails that benefit local charities.  I give top awards to one of my favorites, John Howie (anything at John Howie Steak will please the palette and the coconut cream pie for two at Seastar is not to be missed), who seems to be on his game when it comes to spreading the love and supporting multiple local charities.  Here is a list of who’s who and what they are offering in the next two months:

John Howie Steak: Signature Madras cocktail benefiting Dress for Success (September)

Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill: Chile Fest, special menu items benefiting the Detlef Schrempf Foundation (September 6-25)

Tap House Grill: Oktoberfest, special beers and menu benefiting FareStart (September 19-29) – PS. I love FareStart!

John Howie Steak and Seastar: Signature pink cocktail benefiting Young Survival Coalition in honor of breast cancer awareness month (October)

I send out a big heartfelt thank you to these and other restaurants who are willing to go beyond feeding their customers and nourish the soul of the community.
